Dogtooth Bar + Grill Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Dogtooth Bar + Grill Mozzarella Sticks-- 5.5/10 I loved visiting Wildwood in the fall! I got to try old favorites again and new places! I tried these on my first visit to this eatery, which I probably wouldn’t have tried on the on-season, but was glad to try out when visiting in the fall! The breading: These were your standard crispy outer coating, which seems to be all they have on the island. They were very crunchy and fresh, but not overly flavorful.  The cheese: Somehow the most bland part of the experience! No cheese pull, despite the freshness of the platter. Fine, but nothing spectacular. The sauce: The star of the show here! This had a nice flavor and sweetness that complimented the mozzarella sticks and French fries so well. This would have been great on a pizza! Overall a decent experience, but $11.50 for five mozzarella sticks doesn’t sit right with me. Cue Laura Dern: “Not in my world. Not in the world I’m living in.”

Jellyfish Cafe Mozzarella Sticks

Jellyfish Cafe Mozzarella Sticks-- 6.5/10 HAPPY FIFTIETH REVIEW, DEAR READERS!!! Thank you so much for supporting me on my journey to find the best of the best! <3 I was fortunate enough to visit Wildwood during my birthday month of October (the best month) and get to see the island during the off-season in beautiful weather and with less crowds. I also got to go back to some favorite spots, with much shorter lines, this place being one of them!  The breading: A simple fried outer coating that was somewhat bland but did not taste bad. Not playing in their favor, but not working against them. The cheese: Once again, bland! The cheese was not notable in any way and there was no cheese pill at all. The sauce: This was easily the best part of the experience and makes up a decent part of the score (especially because the dish of marinara was huge). This sauce was seasoned and flavorful and I did not want to eat a bite of mozzarella stick without dipping first! I was not expect...

Seaside Diner's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Seaside Diner's Mozzarella Sticks-- 6/10 crowns I actually really enjoy ed these, especially because mozzarella sticks are so hard to find in Wildwood. They were fresh and hot and crispy and crunchy. But let’s get into it. The breading: These were a crispy coating, not real breadcrumbs. I wasn’t mad at that, and though they did kind of fall apart as you ate them, the flavor was good. As said above, fresh and hot and crispy and crunchy. The cheese: Since these were fresh, I was actually able to get a cheese pull! The flavor was good, not bland. Nice compliment to the crunchy coating.  The sauce: The marinara was thin and runny and certainly a weak spot, but not flavorless and definitely not a bad flavor. Not seasoned and probably from a can but does the job if you absolutely need to dip. My qualm with these is that I paid $9 for five mozzarella sticks. Even though it’s Wildwood and I know the prices are jacked up here, I find that to be exorbitant and while I would love to sco...

Benny’s Pizza Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Benny’s Pizza Mozzarella Sticks-- 7/10 crowns This experience was my first time eating at this place. I can honestly say that I will be returning customer! The Breading: so the breading for me was very crunchy and very crispy, which was a plus for me. Always a sucker for the breaded coating! I definitely appreciate that they stayed warm on the DoorDash trip to my house.  The cheese: While there was no cheese pull for this particular mozzarella stick. I still have to give kudos where it’s due instead of this being a bland, flavorless cheese, I feel like the cheese flavor enhanced the overall experience that I had. The sauce: Though the sauce was probably the weakest part of this entire experience, I still liked the flavor, and I don’t think that it detracted from these mozzarella sticks. Overall, $8.95 for eight mozzarella sticks in this economy is pretty good especially when the mozzarella sticks themselves are good. I will be returning here.

Sunshine Deli Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Sunshine Deli Mozzarella Sticks 5/10 crowns  I feel like these were very mid. They were good enough, but the price detracts from my score. The breading: Even though it’s orange-y in color, the breaded coating is solid. It’s a bit crumbly, so when you bite into it, expect some breading to fall off. The cheese: I got these delivered, and they were still hot by the time they got to me, and I got to experience some minor cheese pulls! Once again, a solid part of the experience. The sauce: Unquestionably the weakest part of the experience. The sauce felt bland and it was clear that this is not the reason why you go to this eatery. Not awful, but wouldn’t try again.  Overall, $8.79 for six mozzarella sticks feels like highway robbery! Worth the try, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have these.

Buffalo Wild Wings Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Buffalo Wild Wings' Mozzarella Sticks- 7/10 crowns  I got these mozzarella sticks as part of the “Endless Apps” deal, in which you pay $10 and order bottomless apps (choose from 5), two platters at a time. My friends and I ordered three times, and got five platters of mozzarella sticks.   The breading: The breading was super crunchy and had a nice taste! These were served fresh, which allowed the breadcrumb coating to shine.   The cheese: The cheese actually had a nice flavor AND I got several cheese pulls, even when they had been on the table for a few minutes. No complaints here! The sauce: The marinara was a great addition to these mozzarella sticks and I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite it slightly reminding me of Burger King marinara. My friends and I also got the caramel sauce (not pictured) which we normally get with the cheese curds to see if the sauce is a “one hit wonder”. It definitely isn’t!!! We got two cups of caramel sauce and it only enhanced t...

1908 Pizzaria's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
1908 Pizzaria's Mozzarella Sticks- 5 crowns  These mozzarella sticks are available at my university and i have been waiting to order these, but most of the time, they are sold out! The way you order them is also off-putting-- you can only order from this restaurant online through the Grubhub app so it feels very disconnected for me. This experience overall did not hit the marks for me.  The breading: The breading was easily the best part of this experience. I liked the crunch that these had, even though the flavor was bland.  The cheese: No lie, I really feel like this cheese had no flavor. It was chewy yet bland. They were also served about room temp, so there was no cheese pull to be found. Typically this food has been served cold, and yet this was still disappointing.  The sauce: The sauce at least had flavor but it just was not a good one.  I know this review is more brief than other ones I have written but I really just don't have much to say about th...

AMC Theaters Fried Mozzarella

Image
AMC Theaters Fried Mozzarella- 8/10 crowns I was very surprised at these. Being that they are from the movie theater, it's safe to say that my expectations were rather low. However, I got these fresh from the kitchen and I was blown away at the quality from these.  The breading: These little triangles were crispy and crunchy and covered in good breadcrumb flavor. I was suer pleased with the audible crunch that came from these mozzarella triangles. I was expecting a fried coating, but this felt more expensive to (as it should for the price!). The cheese: The cheese pull was AMAZING. The string just kept pulling and pulling without breaking. Since these were super fresh, they were hot and the pull was incredible. The flavor was also overall good. I had one of the triangles after they had cooled completely, and the taste was still good. The sauce: The sauce is where it gets interesting. There was shredded mozzarella on top of the chunky marinara sauce, which was something diffe...

Wegman's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Wegman's Mozzarella Sticks- 8.5/10 crowns These surprised me. They were solid, like, these were good! Wegmans has an in-store food court that serves all kinds of foods like subs, pizza, and sushi, and since this seems like an unlikely place to get (good) ready-to-eat fried cheese, these definitely defied my expectations.   The breading: These mozzarella sticks seemed to have an actual breadcrumb breading instead of the fried outer coating, which seems more expensive to me. Point, Weggy. I also got these super fresh, so the crunch was amazing! I was very impressed with this quality. The cheese: The. Cheese. Pull. Now, like I said I ordered these fresh so the cheese pull was very good. The cheese was hot and super stringy. I got to extend most of my arm, which attests to how good the cheese pull was, though I do believe this is subject to freshness.  The sauce: This is where they lose me because the cup of marinara was extra money, so I did not order it this first tim...

Buffalo Wild Wings Cheese Curds

Image
Buffalo Wild Wings Cheese Curds- 9/10 crowns Ok, so I'll start out by saying that following the Chili's fiasco, these cheese bites could actually be a good replacement. It's unfortunate that the establishment on the overall is more expensive, but  you could go on a Tuesday or Thursday and get half-priced wings, which would somewhat counteract the money you're spending on other things you order. Obviously docking half a point for the fact that this is a mozzarella stick blog and these are cheddar cheese.  The breading: Since these weren't mozzarella sticks, these didn't have a breadcrumb coating, however, they were delivered to my table immediately after they were ready and the coating was so fresh and crunchy. These were definitely comparable to Chili's, even though it wasn't covered in spices. The cheese: The cheese just also hit. I loved the flavor, even without the sauce. The cheese pull was very minimal, but the flavor more than made up for this sho...

Pizza Hut Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Pizza Hut Mozzarella Sticks- 7.5/10 crowns Hello, friends. I am so sorry that I have been slacking lately. Let me assuage any worries you may have by assuring you that in that time I was still eating mozzarella sticks, and I have new reviews up my sleeves. Anyway, anyone who knows me knows I am a certified sl*t for the Hut and that I would drink the buffalo sauce that they use instead of marinara. Anywhosies, these were really good! I've never seen these on the menu before, so when I did, I screamed and instantly added to the cart. The breading: The breading had a nice flavor! It was a thinner breading coating, kind of like Applebee's, but good. Not terrific, but solid. Definitely a frozen stick, but better than expected.  The cheese: I actually liked this cheese, but there was no cheese pull. I will take the blame for that, as I did not eat them immediately. I feel like if I were to eat these as soon as I picked them up, they would have been better.  The marinara: This ...

Chili's Crispy Cheddar Bites

Image
Chili's Crispy Cheddar Bites- 9.5/10 We are once again interrupting the normal flow of mozzarella content to bring you: Chili's cheddar bites. These are so so good. Period. Let's just get into it. The breading: The breading on these is simply a crispy outer shell, and there is nothing wring with that in this context. Especially because miss chili tops them with a blend of spices. I really can't handle any spice and will mostly eat mild buffalo wings with tears in my eyes, but the combination and amount of spices makes for the right mix.  The cheese: If you get these right from the kitchen (as I have on several occasions) and you don't eat the whole thing in one bite, you might actually get something of a cheese pull, good job, Chili. Obviously, this is a mozzarella blog and these are cheddar cheese bites but this is my blog and I love it here so they stay. ***That being said, I will probably rate any kind of fried cheese to cross my path. The sauce: The sauce is w...

Texas Roadhouse Twisted Mozzarella

Image
Texas Roadhouse Twisted Mozzarella- 6/10 crowns   I am once again telling you I'm sure of what you're  thinking. Mozzarella sticks... Texas Roadhouse? And, sure, you would be right, this is certainly an odd combination. I come here for the onion flower, not mozzarella sticks. I think cheddar, not mozzarella. But you know what? These were actually decent. Worth the try, if you will. The breading: Jumping right into things, these were obviously frozen. Like, there's not going to be a sad employee in the kitchen breading twisted mozzarella cheese sticks with the bread crumbs. No. But it seemed to have a distinctive breading look instead of the fried coating which we are familiar with. Good start. ***Also! The picture on the website shows a twisted mozzarella stick shape. I have never seen that before, and still did not see them when i got my order, so that was misleading. But it's still cool to look at, so you should check that out.  The cheese: Yeah this was your stan...

Target's Market Pantry Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Target's Market Pantry Mozzarella Sticks- 6.5/10 crowns Ok, I know what you're thinking. You're probably thinking "well, she's biased because she works at Target." But you know what? These were really good. I am seriously considering how to get more out of the freezer from the back so I can buy them tonight after my shift.  The breading: As soon as I saw these come out of the package my mind did a double take. She was like "???". They looked so familiar, but as far as i can remember, I have never tried these (and I have been missing out, as I'm sure you probably are, too). Anyway, these are TOTAL dupes for Farm Rich mozzarella sticks, which, as we know, are my favorite ones to buy at the grocery store. The breading was good! Crunchy and breaded, not just an outer shell.  The cheese: I will preface this part of the review by saying it comes down to how you heat them up, and I did so in the oven. Some cheese came out, but that was minimal. The che...

IHOP's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
IHOP's Mozzarella Sticks- 7/10 crowns These are literally the *same* exact mozzarella sticks as Applebee's. I should just redirect you to that review. Speaking of  which ... Also, does that mean that IHOP is breakfast Applebee's?? The breading: Ok, girl, is there really much to say? Real bread crumbs. Good. The only thing about these breadcrumbs that isn't really my favorite is the cheese to breadcrumb ratio. There's no problem with having a lot of cheese, but my lactose a** would like more breadcrumbs to balance out the outrageous amount of dairy. The cheese: Anyway, so, the cheese always slaps. Even though my friend and I ordered takeout from the restaurant and ate them about twenty minutes after we picked them up, the cheese pull was still present. The other brands need to take note.  The sauce: It's Applebee's sauce. It's not bad. It's actually pretty good. But we all know that the sauce seems like it's made to give you st...

White Rose Mozzarella Sticks

Image
White Rose Mozzarella Sticks- 5/10 crowns The sauce, though. The breading: Like it was fine, I guess. For sure from a freezer, but nothing more or less than I expected. The cheese: The cheese was good! They were very hot so the cheese was still stretchy. The sauce: Ok, the sauce was absolutely FREEZING. They keep that place like a meat locker I could not stop shivering. But the flavor! Very good! The sauce makes up most of the stars, let's keep it at that. $5.50 for five mozzarella sticks? Thank u, next.

Quaker Steak and Lube Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Quaker Steak and Lube Mozzarella Sticks- 8/10 crowns I don't know what I expected from this place (being that this was my first time there) but I must say I was surprised in a good way! I for sure would not be spending full coin on these but for half apps, I was pleased and ready to order a double. The breading: This breading was actual breadcrumb! Like I could see the breadcrumbs, not just a fried coating! And the flavor was good! Not as much crunch as I would have liked, but fine for half app prices! The cheese: Good cheese pull. Very long stretch. The sauce: Ok this place did not have to go as hard as they did. This sauce was very good and is responsible for such a high rating. It was chunky, and usually, I am not into that, however, the flavor slapped. Definitely double-dipping. Honestly, these were very good and I left content. But make sure when you go you are going for half apps! We do not pay full price in this house!!

Menlo Park Diner's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Menlo Park Diner's Mozzarella Sticks- 6.5/10 crowns I really wanted to give these a 7, I really did. The breading: From the pictures alone, I understand if you're think what the heck those look undercooked and sad. Because they did. But let me tell you that real breadcrumb stuff was it. The cheese: This cheese pull was doing it. Like for sure not the best pull ever, but one of the best ones in a while, not good enough to top Farm Rich bites, though. The sauce: I mean for a diner I was not expecting a whole lot from sad looking sauce but it was not bad. 10/10 definitely doubt dipping. Menlo Park Diner, you cannot be serving me seven (7) mozzarella sticks on a plate. its either six eight you choose. And what in the WORLD was with that nine dollar price tag. subtracting points for that alone, please reconsider.

Francesco's Pizzeria Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Francesco's Pizzeria Mozzarella Sticks- 6/10 crowns I mean I ate them all but they weren't the best, you know? The breading: So the breading was like the fried coating that you know all about if you've been a dedicated follower of this blog. If you know about the fried coating you'll also know that its not my favorite. I mean, it's there. And I will eat it for sure, but it could be better. It was crunchy and crispy, I guess. Nothing to rave about. The cheese: An average from the freezer mozzarella stick cheese pull. Like she tried it, but she wasn't going anywhere. The sauce: Like not great. Ok, not that flavorful, bland. So in the end, we did not stan these, but we ate them all anyway and would without a doubt do it again.

Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites

Image
Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites- 8/10 crowns I know that you guys have been after a review all summer but your girl had to take a summer hiatus. Don't worry, I still ate a whole lot of mozzarella sticks. Ok, I will 100% stand by the truth that Farm Rich mozzarella sticks (or bites??) are untouchable. The breading: Now this was not breading like your traditional breadcrumbs. What we have here is a crispy dough that had the slightest, but exactly the right amount, of crunch. The shell was soft and crunchy at the same time and I was (and still am) mystified. The cheese: This. Cheese. Pull. Honestly the best cheese pull I have reviewed thus far. If you care about yourself at all, please treat yourselves to these and put them in your air fryer (400 °  for seven minutes) and enjoy the heck out of them. Go. The sauce: There was no sauce, and while I would kind of like to see one, I know as well as you guys that sometimes the sauce can ruin a good mozzarella bite. Guys just go to Sh...
