Burger King Fiery Dragon Mozzarella Fries

Image
Burger King Fiery Dragon Mozzarella Fries-- 4.5/10 crowns The breading: I did dock a point for the mozzarella sticks literally being orange, but since it’s Burger King, maybe my standards are too high. The breading was super spicy (though I do not generally have a high tolerance for spicy foods) and I felt the effects of that for several minutes after finishing them. The cheese: Bland. Again, not surprised but also not impressed in any way. No cheese pull, but I think that was obvious. The sauce: The marinara works for me. It’s a little tangy. It definitely detracted from the spiciness of the breading which was a plus for me. Generally, though, we shouldn’t expect a lot from marinara in a cup such as this one. Overall, I wouldn’t go for these again, but I find them to be a good addition to the blog. I will also not be seeing the live-action How to Train Your Dragon , of which these were a promotional item.

Tony’s Pizzeria Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Tony’s Pizzeria Mozzarella Sticks-- 3/10 crowns  The breading: The breading on these was so sparse I could actually see the white of the cheese through it. Personally, I do not really like floppy mozzarella sticks so these did not hit the mark. The cheese: The ratio on these was mostly cheese and I just don’t think it did them any favors. The cheese was bland, but the mozzarella sticks overall were bearable when warm. The sauce: The sauce for these was ok! A little chunky and noticeably acidic, but I think it was a good addition to the plate! Overall, I would not repurchase these. I spent $8.95 on FIVE mozzarella sticks and though they were larger than average, they were not good enough to justify the cost. Also, when they were cooled to a room temperature, they were so floppy and bad that I did not even bother to finish what was left in the tin.

Burger King's Mozzarella Fries

Burger King's Mozzarella Fries- 4 crowns Hello, dear readers. Thank you for coming back to visit my blog after a long hiatus. I've been busy lately, but believe me, I have never forgotten about the duty I have to my loyal and trusted readers. I'm here, I'm back, and I'm ready to review.  I first reviewed Burger King's attempt at mozzarella sticks almost six years ago, and they did not meet my standards, or anything nearly close to them. I thought that when they retired these, we were safe, but Burger King has reared its ugly head, and is back, now marketing them as "fries". I do not understand why BK feels the need to market everything they have as a "fry" (chicken fries, mozzarella fries, actual fries). Is that their lane? It's not a good one.  The breading: So at first I was a little surprised because these definitely looked more fry-shaped than their previous attempt. Overall, the mozzarella stick itself was thinner and smaller. The br...

Hard Rock AC's Fried Risotto-Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Hard Rock AC's Fried Risotto-Mozzarella Sticks- 4 crowns Wanting to indulge in a special treat while I was away in Atlantic City, I decided to order room service and obviously had to try the mozzarella sticks. For a huge hotel with multiple fine-dining eateries and a stacked food court, this was surprisingly the only place on the hotel property where you can find mozzarella sticks. That is very   disappointing, considering there's so many options for munchies, and I feel like mozz is an easy sell.  The breading: The breading was actually one of my favorite parts of this mess. Even though the food had to travel from the kitchen and up fourteen floors to my hotel room, the breadcrumbs stayed warm and crunchy. The mozzarella sticks were also covered in chopped scallions, which was a unique yet tasteful choice.  The cheese: This is where these lost me. The cheese has a consistency that was similar to a fish stick (my mom compared it to a rice ball). The flavor was very ...

Arby's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Arby's Mozzarella Sticks- 3.5 crowns So when I booked a vacation down the shore, one reason I was excited was because there is an Arby's down here. There used to be one closer to home, but it closed a long time ago. Anyway, when I found out that Arby's now serves mozzarella sticks, I got even more excited. However, this experience was a mess. The breading: The breading is crunchy and looks crispy golden in the picture. And yet, it was bland and just didn't have a good flavor.  The cheese: The cheese was solid. There was no cheese pull to be found anywhere with these. To be fair, I ordered ahead online at close to closing time and I had to drive twenty minutes back to the motel before I ate them, but even the flavor didn't hold up for me. Super bland. The sauce: There is one, but I did not receive it with my order. Good call, Arby's. Overall, I think these could possibly be bumped up by at least half a crown if they were warm in the slightest but they weren't...

Chili's Fried Mozzarella

Image
Chili's Fried Mozzarella- 2/10 crowns Anyone who knows me knows I am a Chili's enthusiast, but I cannot stand by this decision. Chili's removing the cheese bites from the menu is absolutely heinous and when I discovered that (unfortunately it ruined some of the glamour of Barbz Day) I literally think I may have hyperventilated in the restaurant. Anyway, this post is about the mozzarella sticks as their own entity, not in relation to the cheese bites. In that case, they would get a 0/10 rating.  The breading: Easily the best part of this experience. I thought the flavor was good enough and was crispy, even when I ordered them to-go for my second trial.  The cheese: This is definitely where Chili's loses me. For a Tex-Mex restaurant I don't think these match the theme at all. Even mozzarella sticks themselves are questionable. But these are thick pieces of fried mozzarella. Mostly cheese, I found myself unable to finish an order by myself both times because of the c...

Applebee's Crispy Cheese Bites

Image
Applebee's Crispy Cheese Bites- 1.5/10 crowns Applebee's is already on thin ice because they have once again raised their dine for two meal price from 2 for $22 to 2 for $24. ***Update 06/29/2023 2 for TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS NOW.  Utter jail. Just go to Chili's at that point because in their 2 for $25 dine meal, you get an appetizer, two entrees AND a dessert.  ***Update 06/29/2023 This Chili’s deal doesn’t exist anymore and for that they are on thin ice. There are just so many things working against these cheese bites. First, Applebee's already has a fried cheese option, the classic mozzarella sticks. These are also expensive AND they are not eligible for the half priced appetizers deal. Applebee's really fumbled the bag. The breading: The crust was a fried coating which does not necessarily have to be a bad thing, but these are just bland! No flavor. This might be better than a bad flavor, but I was hoping for something . No spices on the coating, nothing!  The chee...

Attilio’s Pizzeria Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Attilio’s Mozzarella Sticks- 4/10 crowns Ok, I would like to make it clear that they got this high of a rating despite the taste for one reason and one reason only. The breading: These definitely came from a freezer, so the mozzarella stick itself was bland. They were not trying to hide the tasteless breading (fried coating, really). The cheese: I ate these right after I picked them up from the pizzeria, and even though they were still hot when I ate them (enough so that steam came out of the container when I opened it), there was no cheese pull to be spoken of. There was minimal stretch, and along with that, minimal taste.  The sauce: This is where it’s at. They didn’t do much right with these, but the sauce? Immaculate. I took a bite with the sauce and did a double take, an immediate double take, if you will. I don’t know what they did to the sauce, but easily the best I have had in recent times. Honestly, I was more into the sauce than anything else this place had to offer. All ...

Fratelli's Pizza Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Fratelli's Pizza Mozzarella Sticks- 4.5/10 crowns I am very torn about these. I don't believe I have ever been so perplexed about what to rate a mozzarella stick at. The breading: Ok, let's get one thing straight, these are definitely from the freezer. No shame in that, just being upfront. That being said, the flavor was bland and almost nonexistent. The cheese: When I ate these, there was still steam coming from them, and yet I did not experience a good cheese pull. Or a cheese pull at all, for that matter. Like the flavor was fine, it was just that the cheese had a consistency closer to a piece of string cheese rather than the gooey cheese I had hoped for. The sauce: At this point, you might be questioning my judgment and rating on these because I have not said favorable things about these mozzarella sticks. But the sauce makes up the rating on its own. It was pretty good! I liked the flavor. Nothing great about it, just a good, solid marinara sauce. In conclusi...

Harold's New York Deli Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Harold's New York Deli Mozzarella Sticks- 4.5/10 crowns These mozzarella sticks were not doing it. The breading: The breading was decent and crunchy but very bland. Also, they did not use actual breadcrumbs, just a crunchy coating! The cheese: Again, bland. I would discuss the cheese pull, but there was none to speak of. The sauce: The sauce was the best thing about these, because there was some  flavor, but it was still not as much as I expected. Ok for $15 I should be getting more than a dozen mozzarella sticks and that's tea. Like if you're already spilling coin on mozzarella sticks just splurge on Friendly's catering-- they offer 130 mini mozzarella sticks for $30. Go get that sauce sis.

Brooklyn Pizza's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Brooklyn Pizza's Mozzarella Sticks- 3.5/10 crowns My family ordered delivery from this place and let me tell you it was a train wreck before I even tried the mozzarella sticks. The breading: The breading surprisingly (not breadcrumbs) was the bet thing about these mozzarella sticks and they were greasy. Not off to the best start here. The cheese: The cheese just tasted like they had been reheated like two times because the customer had second thoughts about ordering them. Lucky for them. I mean if Chuck E. Cheese reuses its pizza then this place might reuse mozzarella sticks. The sauce: It just tasted cold, like it had been sitting out for a while. Not good. No thank you. Just save yourself and either get Farm Rich anything or Edison Diner mozzarella sticks. ***August 4, 2020 Update After trying these again, I have decided to update my ranking from a 4 crown rating to a 3.5 crown rating. The sauce is thin and the mozzarella sticks do not have much flavor overall.

T.G.I. Friday's Restaurant Mozzarella Sticks

Image
T.G.I. Friday's Restaurant Mozzarella Sticks- 2.5/10 crowns Here's a hot (?) take: these mozzarella sticks sucked. The breading: Why is it that the mozzarella sticks with actual real breadcrumbs never live up to my standards? Just like bland. Bad. The cheese: There was a minor cheese pull, I will grant them that. Tbh don't know why they bothered it wasn't good anyway. The sauce: Like a pile of red goop, not good. And it gave me a stomach ache. Disappointing. Let me put things into perspective for you: I got these as part of the never ending appetizers promotion. Meaning: I could literally order as many trays of these as I wanted. And I didn't order more than two. My sister brought some home and I didn't even have another. My recommendation is that if you want T.G.I. Friday's mozzarella sticks (and if you have a super coupon) just go to Shop Rite and get the frozen ones.

Burger King Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Burger King Mozzarella Sticks- 2/10 crowns Burger King. Stay in your lane. Push your whoppers not your mozzarella sticks. Just like, how were they so bad?! The breading: These mozzarella sticks were serving with that breading, but unfortunately, it fell so flat. Like, the taste was bland and bad? At the same time?? No thanks. The cheese: No cheese pull. None at all. The sauce: Not available, which was the only thing Burger King did right with these. Overall, skip these mozzarella sticks. Even I, the bargain queen, would skip out on these despite the price, which seems good, but when you're getting trash, don't bother. Stay in your lane.

Ferraro's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Ferraro's Mozzarella Sticks- 4/10 crowns Call me picky, but even though these mozzarella sticks had the breading that I liked, they were so lacking in other important factors that they are hardly worthy of that 4. The breading: Ok so I must say that these mozzarella sticks did have an actual breading coating and not just the crunchy outer shell. But, the flavor was so lackluster that I was eating these and I was like "probably wouldn't cop". The cheese: The cheese was fine, I guess. Nothing special, no great cheese pull. Enough said. The sauce: For some reason not available? From an Italian? Restaurant ??? So the overall flavor of the mozzarella sticks and the priciness of the restaurant made for an ultimately forgettable experience. I'm not wowed. Do better.

Nathan's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Nathan's Mozzarella Sticks- 3.5/10 crowns While these mozzarella sticks did in fact have some  flavor, it was minimal and overall similar to the school mozzarella sticks with a skosh more flavor and minus the sauce. Also, be warned that when put into the toaster oven, most of the cheese comes out of the breading and you are left with a hollow bread shell. The breading: The breading was overall bland, but not school level bland. There was some flavor but it was largely hidden by the disappointment from the cheese coming out. If you are looking for flavor, you would be better off upgrading to the more expensive (but well worth the price) Farm Rich brand. The cheese: I really do not have much to share about this cheese. The taste was lacking and it was not stringy. Whatever was left in the actual mozzarella stick left a lot to be desired. The sauce: Not available, and probably for the better. In conclusion, I probably would not spend my own money on these unless I had the su...

School Mozzarella Sticks

Image
School Mozzarella Sticks- 2/10 crowns Alright, so for school mozzarella sticks, these are definitely edible. Are they good? No. Am I still going to eat them all? Absolutely. School is typically known as the place where food dies but these were pretty decent all things considered. I do not have many positive words to share about this experience, but I have tasted worse. The breading: The panko breading was bland for the most part and unimpressive, though I did not have any strong negative feelings towards it. There is little to be excited about. The cheese: This cheese was not it. Not stringy, this cheese was also bland but not at all unpleasant. The sauce: This sauce was easily the most potent part of the whole experience. There was a slight kick to the flavor, and it was had a slight tang to the taste. In general, this sauce was not bad, but do not be surprised to get a stomach ache if you eat too much. In conclusion, I would not spend money on these but I would eat all of ...
