Hard Rock AC's Fried Risotto-Mozzarella Sticks

Hard Rock AC's Fried Risotto-Mozzarella Sticks- 4 crowns Wanting to indulge in a special treat while I was away in Atlantic City, I decided to order room service and obviously had to try the mozzarella sticks. For a huge hotel with multiple fine-dining eateries and a stacked food court, this was surprisingly the only place on the hotel property where you can find mozzarella sticks. That is very   disappointing, considering there's so many options for munchies, and I feel like mozz is an easy sell.  The breading: The breading was actually one of my favorite parts of this mess. Even though the food had to travel from the kitchen and up fourteen floors to my hotel room, the breadcrumbs stayed warm and crunchy. The mozzarella sticks were also covered in chopped scallions, which was a unique yet tasteful choice.  The cheese: This is where these lost me. The cheese has a consistency that was similar to a fish stick (my mom compared it to a rice ball). The flavor was very good, but w

1908 Pizzaria's Mozzarella Sticks

1908 Pizzaria's Mozzarella Sticks- 5 crowns  These mozzarella sticks are available at my university and i have been waiting to order these, but most of the time, they are sold out! The way you order them is also off-putting-- you can only order from this restaurant online through the Grubhub app so it feels very disconnected for me. This experience overall did not hit the marks for me.  The breading: The breading was easily the best part of this experience. I liked the crunch that these had, even though the flavor was bland.  The cheese: No lie, I really feel like this cheese had no flavor. It was chewy yet bland. They were also served about room temp, so there was no cheese pull to be found. Typically this food has been served cold, and yet this was still disappointing.  The sauce: The sauce at least had flavor but it just was not a good one.  I know this review is more brief than other ones I have written but I really just don't have much to say about these mozzarella sticks

Arby's Mozzarella Sticks

Arby's Mozzarella Sticks- 3.5 crowns So when I booked a vacation down the shore, one reason I was excited was because there is an Arby's down here. There used to be one closer to home, but it closed a long time ago. Anyway, when I found out that Arby's now serves mozzarella sticks, I got even more excited. However, this experience was a mess. The breading: The breading is crunchy and looks crispy golden in the picture. And yet, it was bland and just didn't have a good flavor.  The cheese: The cheese was solid. There was no cheese pull to be found anywhere with these. To be fair, I ordered ahead online at close to closing time and I had to drive twenty minutes back to the motel before I ate them, but even the flavor didn't hold up for me. Super bland. The sauce: There is one, but I did not receive it with my order. Good call, Arby's. Overall, I think these could possibly be bumped up by at least half a crown if they were warm in the slightest but they weren't

AMC Theaters Fried Mozzarella

AMC Theaters Fried Mozzarella- 8/10 crowns I was very surprised at these. Being that they are from the movie theater, it's safe to say that my expectations were rather low. However, I got these fresh from the kitchen and I was blown away at the quality from these.  The breading: These little triangles were crispy and crunchy and covered in good breadcrumb flavor. I was suer pleased with the audible crunch that came from these mozzarella triangles. I was expecting a fried coating, but this felt more expensive to (as it should for the price!). The cheese: The cheese pull was AMAZING. The string just kept pulling and pulling without breaking. Since these were super fresh, they were hot and the pull was incredible. The flavor was also overall good. I had one of the triangles after they had cooled completely, and the taste was still good. The sauce: The sauce is where it gets interesting. There was shredded mozzarella on top of the chunky marinara sauce, which was something different,

Wegman's Mozzarella Sticks

Image
Wegman's Mozzarella Sticks- 8.5/10 crowns These surprised me. They were solid, like, these were good! Wegmans has an in-store food court that serves all kinds of foods like subs, pizza, and sushi, and since this seems like an unlikely place to get (good) ready-to-eat fried cheese, these definitely defied my expectations.   The breading: These mozzarella sticks seemed to have an actual breadcrumb breading instead of the fried outer coating, which seems more expensive to me. Point, Weggy. I also got these super fresh, so the crunch was amazing! I was very impressed with this quality. The cheese: The. Cheese. Pull. Now, like I said I ordered these fresh so the cheese pull was very good. The cheese was hot and super stringy. I got to extend most of my arm, which attests to how good the cheese pull was, though I do believe this is subject to freshness.  The sauce: This is where they lose me because the cup of marinara was extra money, so I did not order it this first time. I will updat

Buffalo Wild Wings Cheese Curds

Buffalo Wild Wings Cheese Curds- 9/10 crowns Ok, so I'll start out by saying that following the Chili's fiasco, these cheese bites could actually be a good replacement. It's unfortunate that the establishment on the overall is more expensive, but  you could go on a Tuesday or Thursday and get half-priced wings, which would somewhat counteract the money you're spending on other things you order. Obviously docking half a point for the fact that this is a mozzarella stick blog and these are cheddar cheese.  The breading: Since these weren't mozzarella sticks, these didn't have a breadcrumb coating, however, they were delivered to my table immediately after they were ready and the coating was so fresh and crunchy. These were definitely comparable to Chili's, even though it wasn't covered in spices. The cheese: The cheese just also hit. I loved the flavor, even without the sauce. The cheese pull was very minimal, but the flavor more than made up for this sho

Chili's Fried Mozzarella

Image
Chili's Fried Mozzarella- 2/10 crowns Anyone who knows me knows I am a Chili's enthusiast, but I cannot stand by this decision. Chili's removing the cheese bites from the menu is absolutely heinous and when I discovered that (unfortunately it ruined some of the glamour of Barbz Day) I literally think I may have hyperventilated in the restaurant. Anyway, this post is about the mozzarella sticks as their own entity, not in relation to the cheese bites. In that case, they would get a 0/10 rating.  The breading: Easily the best part of this experience. I thought the flavor was good enough and was crispy, even when I ordered them to-go for my second trial.  The cheese: This is definitely where Chili's loses me. For a Tex-Mex restaurant I don't think these match the theme at all. Even mozzarella sticks themselves are questionable. But these are thick pieces of fried mozzarella. Mostly cheese, I found myself unable to finish an order by myself both times because of the c
