T.G.I. Fridays Frozen Mozzarella Sticks
T.G.I. Fridays Frozen Mozzarella Sticks- 5/10 crowns
As seen by the Nathan's mozzarella sticks fiasco, store brands are on shaky ground for me. However, these mozzarella sticks were pleasantly surprising! The flavor was present and overall good for a brand that you can buy for little coins at ShopRite.
The breading: The breading on these mozzarella sticks (as described on the box), was an even coating of panko breading, and while I have tasted better breadcrumbs (Edison Diner wya), the taste was pretty good. I can get behind these mozzarella sticks.
The cheese: The cheese, while good, was not stringy, and that is something that I enjoy and expect when trying mozzarella sticks. Because these mozzarella sticks were shaped more like rectangles instead of cylinders, there was more cheese overall, but if you don't heat them up long enough, they might be soggy.
The sauce: The sauce definitely had a distinct flavor, and even though I can appreciate it in small amounts, the taste was sour to me. Also, the instructions on the box said to put the marinara packet in hot water for about eight minutes, but once you take the sauce from the water, it gets cold so quickly! It is worth it to try, but maybe not for the full dipping experience.
In conclusion, I would actually spend money on these! And I retract my statement about buying Nathan's brand with a super coupon at ShopRite, because given the choice, I would choose these.
